Today sees former Notts County player Dean Yates's 50th Birthday, Dean joined Notts from Syston Juniors where he started as a centre forward and then as a midfielder before turning to centre back. He made his debut on the 6th April 1985 in a 3-2 home defeat against Wimbledon playing alongside Dave Watson and Pedro Richards and held his place for the rest of the season. The following season he held the number 5 spot which he made his own and scored his first league goal again

Roy Came to Notts County from Reading after leaving Tottenham where he only made one appearance which was understandable with the legendary Pat Jennings keeping him out of their side. He made 63 league appearances for Reading before making his first three appearances in the 1970/71 season, the following season he dislodged Barry Watling as first choice goalkeeper missing only three games.
