The Notts County former players association are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jackie Sewell.
In a little over four years Jackie broke the Magpies individual league scoring record surpassing Tom Keetley's total of 94 goals. He was a special talent proved by his record of 21 league goals in 1946-47, he was also a star in the FA side that toured Canada in 1959 and towards the end of season 1950-51 Sheffield Wednesday splashed out £34,500 to take him to Hillsborough. Although relegated Jackie scored 23 goals in 1951/52 which helped Wednesday return to the top flight. After 175 games and 92 goals and also winning 6 England caps he joined Aston Villa where he scored 40 goals and a winner's medal in the 1957 FA Cup Final against Manchester United.
In all Jackie made 178 league appearances scoring 97 goals.
