Today sees the Birthday of Paul Devlin who joined Notts County in February 1992 from Stafford Rangers signed by Neil Warnock. He made his league debut at Meadow Lane against Coventry late in the season in a 1-0 win. The following season he went on to make 32 league appearances scoring 3 goals. Paul was a fiery front man who could play right wing or centre forward and was renowned for his speed and ball control. In 1994/95 Paul made 40 appearances scoring 9 goals.and also appeared in the Anglo-Italian Cup Final in the 2-1 win against Ascoli at Wembley. Paul was a popular player with the fans and went on to appear 146 times for Notts scoring 25 goals which included 5 appearances on loan from Sheffield United during the 1998/99 season. He left Notts County in January 1996 along with Andy Legg for a reported fee of £250,000 to join his favourite club Birmingham City with whom he was a lifelong fan.
