Former players reunite at Meadow Lane

A host of former Notts County players reunited at Meadow Lane this afternoon to celebrate the launch of new book One Flew Over the Magpies Nest.

The likes of Lee Hughes, Tommy Johnson, Alan Birchenall, Brian Stubbs, Les Bradd and Mark Draper were in attendance, along with author Paul Mace. A video from the day can be watched on Notts' YouTube channel. (

The 650-page book (hardback, £20) charts behind-the-scenes stories and tales from former players, managers, chairmen and fans over the past 50 years of the club.

There are more than 250,000 words and 100 colour and black and white illustrations, plus a statistical appendix by Mick Chappell.

The book is available to purchase from the club shop now.
