Mike Edwards' remarkable career with Notts County is to be honoured by the Former Players' Association at their annual dinner at Meadow Lane on Saturday 13th May.
Edwards will be a popular recipient of an Achievement Award in recognition of his long service to the club, both as a player and now as a member of the backroom staff, stretching back to 2004 when he was signed from Grimsby Town.
From his debut against Chester City in August, 2004 he has made a total of 311 appearances at the heart of the Magpies' defence, including two this season while also working as the club's fitness and conditioning coach.
Edwards' outstanding season was 2009-10 in which he made 40 appearances as the club stormed to promotion, winning the League 2 Championship with ten points to spare. The title was clinched with a 5-0 win at Darlington in late April when Edwards scored one of the five goals he contributed during that campaign.
His time at Notts was interrupted when he spent two seasons at Carlisle United between 2012 and 2014 before returning "home" to Meadow Lane.
Tickets for the Former Players' dinner - at which there will be two other surprise presentations - are available from Brian Bates by email, email@example.com or Les Bradd, telephone 07968 115162. There is sure to be a heavy demand and early application is advisable.
