NCFPA are sorry to hear of the passing of Gordon Wills on the 10th January. Gordon arrived at Notts County in 1953 with no league experience but quickly got into the first team playing on either wing and went on to play for Notts for five seasons before moving to Leicester City for a transfer fee of £9,000. Gordon made 154 league appearances and scored 45 goals.
At Leicester He was a key figure playing in the First Division and would have played in Leicester City’s FA Cup Final side in 1961 against Spurs had he not been injured. He recovered to play for the first half of the following season and was an ever-present in Leicester City’s 1961/62 European Cup Winners’ Cup campaign.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Gordon's family and friends.
